8/30/2022 - COVID Update

8/30/2022

Klickitat Families,

Per DOH guidance, the school district will post occasional updates for the local community when relevant Covid cases are connected to our school. As of today, Tuesday Aug 30th, the district is associated with the following cases:

  • 1 recovered student case
  • 2 active student cases
  • 2 active adult cases

Of these cases, most are associated with the middle and high school grades. Not all of these positive cases have been attending school while positive, or identified as close contacts to other specific students. Outside of these cases, the district is aware of other cases suspected and/or active in the community, but not all immediately associated with our school buildings. We share this knowing that Covid is present in our community, and we all play a role in keeping our school operations and activities safe and on schedule as much as possible.

The district has reached out to Klickitat County Health Department and will follow their guidance whenever provided. At this time, all of our classrooms and activities are open, as scheduled and under normal operation, but the district continually monitors and will keep the community posted if disruptions or changes need to occur. For now, students and staff exhibiting symptoms cannot be at school unless a negative test is confirmed. The school has free tests available, however students will not be tested without prior parent consent. Masks are optional at this point, but won’t be discouraged.

Please be vigilant for symptoms and continue to practice and encourage good health & hygiene habits. Updates will be provided when relevant. No specific names or households will be identified, the district views individual health circumstances for our students and staff as private information.

Feel free to reach out to the school with any questions you may have or to request testing.
